I'm really a noob with interfaces. I'm planning to purchase this so I can do some home recording. Can I record my self in my iMac desktop say if playing over a YouTube backing track? Can I also connect this to an amp instead of using a headphone? LooneyRoadrunner Member. Messages First of all: You know that all displays and knobs on a GCE-3 are fake? The whole case looks like a toy. I don't see the point of the GCE If you have a decent computer, you can use software like Bias FX and an audio interface to have brilliant sound.
I don't see how GCE-3 could to anything better here. When using an interface, I would recommend using an aux cable to connect the computer to an amp if your amp has this.
On an iMac, Garageband is really nice for beginners and it is bundled, so there are no additional costs for that. The YouTube backing track is the bigger problem as you'd need a software like Soundflower or Loopback to record the sound from YT. Alternatively, you can use a smartphone to playback YT and record the headphone out of the smartphone with the iMac. Having said all that: What's your amp model?
Maybe there are so other options for you. Some amp models have already a built-in USB audio interface and Aux-in for backing tracks. LooneyRoadrunner said:. Click to expand The Pathfinder ist an awesome little recording amp, but I'll guess, you don't want to mike it. Both Pathfinder and AC15 don't have aux in, so it's not really easy to hook them up to you iMac as monitors. If you really want a simple solution that let's you hear what get's recorded through a decent amp-speaker, then I would recommend a cheap Mustang LT25 or GT Both have USB audio interfaces and are pretty easy to use.
You can either play your backing track on the iMac or connect the Mac's audio out to the aux-in or only with GT40 stream the backing track using bluetooth to the amp. Keep in mind that using the amp to play the backing track results in the backing track becoming part of the signal of the USB audio interface.
If you want to continue to use your current amps, then a Boss GT1 or Mooer GE will also provide you with an audio interface and Aux-in.
Cost-wise, they are in the same price ranges than the LT25 or GT If you want to go for the audio-interface only solution, I still recommend a decent interface e. Apogee Jam and a good guitar modelling software like Bias FX. You must log in or register to reply here. Trending Topics K. What company would you consider the third in the "big three"?
